Freelook: A software headtracker for computer simulations and disabled access.

Freelook allows you to use movements of your head to accurately control your mouse cursor. This translates to hands-free viewpoint control in games such as IL2 Sturmovik and Lock On: Modern Air Combat, as well as providing a mouse alternative for handicapped users. Freelook is similar in execution to the excellent cam2pan and TrackIR systems, although unlike the latter, Freelook only requires a cheap off-the-shelf webcam.

Freelook accomplishes this by tracking the position of a visible marker, which may be as simple as a square of white paper attached to the brim of a cap, or for better performance in unusual lighting situations, an LED may attached in a similar fashion.

Supported Games
The following games have been currently been confirmed to work with freelook:
- IL2 Sturmovik
- IL2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles
- Lock On: Modern Air Combat
- Raven Shield
The new Raven Shield mode allows you to use your head movements to control your character's leaning

Any game that supports mouselook will likely work, and we are confirming support for more games, as well as adding special modes for other games.
Latest Version

a0012 - 2004.09.12
- Getting back into it
- Fixed sensitivity not being loaded from profiles correctly
- Fixed issue where limiting was dependant on sensitivity
- Note that IL2's edge limiting is dependant on screen resolution - maxx should be your horizontal res, and maxyup should be your v res minus about 60 - the examples shown work for 1280x960, but you will likely need to adjust it to suit.
- Pressing 'c' from the front area will expose a camera control dialogue (much belated thanks, Snorri!)
- Don't forget to re-setup your joystick and keyboard with the new profiles

a0011 - 2004.02.28
- Added VERY experimental mode for Falcon 4 (RMB emulation)
- Changed some default settings.

Freelook is a project by Glen Murphy, it is currently freely available as an fully working alpha version supported by user donations (as a small incentive, any user who donates now will receive a lifetime of free updates should the software ever become commercial). The submission of bug reports and other feedback is highly encouraged.
